We all know that neuromodulators like Botox or Xeomin are popular treatments for facial wrinkles. Common areas that are treated include the glabella (frown lines between the brows), the forehead, and the crow’s feet area around the eyes.

Living in Toronto, we have an incredibly diverse population with people coming from all over the world. As a result, our patients also come from an incredible variety of backgrounds. Rhinoplasty is definitely more common in certain ethnic groups. For example, in Iran rhinoplasty is one of the most common plastic surgery procedures. Persians are renown for their beauty and good looks and as in the majority of Middle Eastern countries, rhinoplasty is a popularly accepted refinement for the face. Often times, taking down a hump on the nose, and narrowing the tip and nostrils slightly makes a huge difference.

Today, fillers such as Juvederm, Restylane, Radiesse, and neuromodulators like Botox have become remarkably popular. So much so that in Toronto, you can go to your hairstylist and have your fillers done while someone blow-dries your hair. While botox and cosmetic fillers are great treatments with little downtime, the reality of the situation is that they are just tools. Those tools need to be put in the right hands. You can give a monkey a can of paint-just don’t expect a masterpiece!

Alar base reduction is a procedure that can be combined with a rhinoplasty or can be performed on its own. The goals of alar base reduction are to either decrease the flare of the nostrils or to reduce the size of the nostrils. Alar base excisions are an excellent technique to correct wide nostrils.

Before and after chin augmentation with a silicone implant. The chin implant helps to achieve better definition of the chin and neck and is often performed in combination with liposuction or rhinoplasty to create better balance to the face.
The chin is often an overlooked feature which actually has a huge impact on your facial balance and profile. A small chin (microgenia) can contribute to the illusion of a larger nose and poorly defined neck line.

Before and after buccal fat excision, Botox for masseter muscle hypertrophy, and cheek augmentation with filler (facial slimming procedure).
Many patients come to me desiring a slimmer appearance to the face. Often times, a slightly narrower, more oval-shaped face can be perceived to be more attractive. Toronto is an extremely multicultural and multiethnic city and the patients that request facial slimming include both males and females from wide variety of backgrounds. Obviously, the width of your face is determined genetically. Several features contribute to facial width. These include the bony skeleton, buccal fat, cheek fat, and muscle.

These are the incredibly fine cannulas that Dr. Asaria uses for fat grafting. The delicate harvesting cannula has tiny holes so that large particles of fat cannot be harvested. The fine cannulas used to inject the fat are less than one mm wide. Fat grafting in the face requires very delicate work for permanent results and the fine cannulas minimize bruising and downtime after plastic surgery.
Fat grafting is an incredible technique used to restore facial volume and reverse the signs of aging. As we get older, the skin and soft tissue not only starts to sag, but the volume of the face starts to diminish. The face starts to deflate. If we look at the youthful face, it is defined by smooth contours which reflect light. Valleys and shadows corresponding to sunken areas, on the other hand, define the older face. There are many surgeons in Toronto that perform fat grafting procedures. How do you choose the right surgeon for fat micrografting?

We are defined by our eyes. They are our most important tools of communication, and in a glance, can convey our emotions.
As we age, various changes about the eye can result in a tired or aged look. The position of the brow changes with time, either falling to a lower position, or elevating and creating hollowing above the eye. Extra skin of the upper eyelid can lead to tired appearance. The lower eyelid usually develops bags underneath the lid. This is due to weakening of the orbital septum, which acts as a curtain and holds the fat around the eye in the orbit where it belongs. As the septum weakens, the fat starts to bulge forward creating a puffy appearance to the lower lid. The distance between the eyelid and the upper cheek increases and a groove forms between the lower eyelid and upper cheek which produces a fatigued and sometimes slightly sad appearance.
